SaaSにおけるインフラストラクチャ・アズ・コード（IaC）とは？

Infrastructure as Code (IaC) is the practice of provisioning and managing IT infrastructure using code to ensure that the server, network, and all other resources are provisioned and configured automatically. For SaaS vendors, it is used for quick deployments, scaling, and system availability; the AWS Well-Architected Framework also advises defining infrastructure as code.

Here is an example of IaC (Infrastructure as Code):

Imagine being able to code something in Terraform that will describe the new cloud environment, including the amount and type of servers required, networks, and even the software that should be installed on the servers.

As you execute this code, Terraform will provision your infrastructure で the cloud based on how you have described it.

AWS provides various services that can be used to manage infrastructure as code.

• AWS CDK: Defines cloud infrastructure in languages such as Python and deploys it through CloudFormation (AWS).
• AWS OpsWorks: Retired; customers can no longer use its console, API, CLI, or CloudFormation resources as of May 26, 2024 (Puppet, 2024).
• AWS Elastic Beanstalk: Employed mainly in deploying and installing web-based applications and services.

CloudFormation is a service natively tied to templates and is commonly used for managing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) on AWS.

IaC differs from infrastructure as a service (IaaS), the cloud model that rents out the servers and networks IaC provisions.

IaC is an approach に provisioning and managing computing network resources by using configuration languages rather than configuring hardware by hand or through graphical user interfaces.
