The Coupons tool is an effective technique to reward and increase the loyalty of your existing customers and an appealing strategy to convert potential customers into buyers, increasing your sales results.

The Coupon dashboard displays the complete list of current and previously generated coupon sets, arranged in chronological order.

To create a new coupon batch simply click add coupon button and proceed to define the settings of this new coupon codes batch.

Set the status of your coupon batch – select between Active & Inactive, depending on when you plan to use it. Define a relevant name (to help you identify it quicker in future searches) and add a description which details the purpose and mechanism of your campaign, along with the period for which it will be active.

When defining the discount awarded through these coupons select between Value and Percentage.

If you select the Value discount type you will be asked to input the amount and currency to be considered as a base for future conversions in other currencies. You can continue to add as many value & currency sets as you wish – simply click add coupon button.

Important: For all unspecified currencies the discount will be calculated based on an automatic conversion from the currencies defined in this section.

If you opt to offer the discount as a Percentage of the cart value, you will be asked to input a single value for the discount. You can even raise the discount’s value to 100%, practically giving your customers a free product/ service.

The “Minimum ordered item ” setting allows you to define the minimum acquisition volume at which the discount coupon will be triggered. For example, a discount condition may be for the customer to buy 2 products/license – when the customer’s shopping cart includes 2 or more eligible items, the discount coupon will be automatically activated and offered to the respective buyer.

A similar mechanism is available for Value based discounts, through the “Minimum order value ” setting – the discount will be automatically activated whenever the customer’s shopping cart value reaches the threshold specified by you.

The “Active period ” setting allows you define the start & end dates for the coupons’ validity. Supplementary, you can activate the “Stop discount ” option which allows you to subordinate the availability of the discount to a maximum number of billing cycles for products & services acquired through recurring payments.

To further refine the functionality of the discount coupons, you also have the option to decide how the discount will be applied – you can choose between applying it on:

  • The most expensive item in the shopping cart
  • The least expensive item in the shopping cart
  • The entire shopping cart

Finally, you will be asked to choose the products within your portfolio which will be included in your coupon campaign – simply select them from the product list.

Enabling the “Allow coupon for specific countries only ” option allows you to limit the availability of the discount coupons to users from the countries selected by you. This tool enables you to perform finely targeted campaigns for specific regions or countries.

In the next section, “Generate coupon code ”, you are prompted to select the preferred code generating method and the quantity of codes you wish to include in the campaign. The available options are:

  • Add single coupon code – enter an alphanumeric code which you will be able to recognize later on, in your list of codes Ex. “productnamecountrycodediscount

As this code will be valid for all purchases made within the campaign’s duration & conditions, it is required that you define the coupon code’s Usage limit, representing the number of times this code can be used before becoming inactive. If you leave this field empty, the code will not be subjected to a specific number of uses, the default value being Unlimited.

As a supplementary filter, you can also define the number of times a specific user (identified by his/her e-mail) can use this coupon to activate the discount. If left empty, the default value is also Unlimited.

  • Paste the list of coupon codes

If you decide to enter your own, previously generated, coupon codes, simply paste them in the text box in this section. In order to avoid any potential errors, please use the code format mentioned in the recommendations under the text box (Licence_key, max usage_amount, max usage amount per user).

  • Upload from CSV/Text file

Centralize your own coupon codes in a CSV or Text file and simply upload it in the dialog box. To avoid any potential errors, please use the code format mentioned in the recommendations under the text box (Licence_key, max usage_amount, max usage amount per user).

  • Generate coupon codes

To generate your own set of coupon codes please add the required information, as detailed in the fields of this section:

  • Prefix – required in order to distinguish the current batch of coupons from others previously created & used
  • Usage limit – define the maximum number of times a customer can use a coupon from this set
  • Usage limit per user e-mail – define the maximum number of times a coupon from this set can be used by a customer based on his authentication email
  • Amount to generate – set the total number of coupons to generate for your current batch

Once all these parameters have been set simply click on “Generate codes” and your new coupon codes will be created and displayed in a consolidated list.

Important: Please keep in mind that the options you select with regards to the mechanism of your coupons (applied to cheapest/most expensive product in your campaign, the entire shopping cart or specific items) will visibly affect the financial results of your campaign. Coupons may also be applied to secondary products (such a products currently promoted through cross-sell campaigns). In order to make sure that your campaign settings correctly reflect your sales strategy, please save your settings regularly and doublecheck everything is according to your expectations accessing the preview of your Checkout page – simply go to Store Settings – Page Templates, select your current campaign’s page and click on Test Page Template.

TIP: Always perform this verification before activating your campaigns.

Please note that our system limits the usage of coupons to 1 code per Checkout page. Should a buyer apply multiple codes for the same order, our system will only accept and apply the last code entered. This is a security measure, intended to prevent any attempts of abusive usage for the discount coupons.
