Step 1 – General settings: assign product name, product type, tags, product description and integrate Adwords tracking
To add a new product press . Selecting this option allows you to add a new item to your shop, whether it’s a software product, a subscription, an offer or a promotion or even a product bundle.
Throughout the entire product creation process you have the option to review & edit every step taken and to see updated previews of how your checkout page will look and feel for your customers. You can do this by selecting , a function which will open a webpage view of your checkout page. is another option available to you, which involves accessing the Developer section and creating a test link for your checkout page.
Note: When creating and editing your products’ setup, page templates and smart cross-sells for each and every individual product, you can preview the live checkout page from within this section of the Control Panel. This allows you to perform a final check for any potential errors and review the final layout of your live page, exactly as your buyers will see it.
Product Name: in this field you will define the default display language and enter the title of the item you wish to create. The item can be a standalone product, a subscription, a special offer you are promoting, a bundle, etc.
Product type: select between creating a Regular or a Bundle product.
A Regular product is a standalone item such as a software product, an e-book, a graphic template, etc.
A Bundle product is a bundled offer (2 or more software products, licenses, subscriptions sold as a package) or a promotional offer. If you select this option you will be presented with your current inventory of products, including other offers or bundles you may have already created, for you to select the items you wish to include in the current bundle.
Tags: add relevant attributes or definitions of your newly created item, to help you access it later on in your portfolio – ex: “European_market ” or “summer_promotion ”.
Product description: add your product, subscription, promotion or bundle description making sure it is clear, relevant and compelling for your potential customers. The product description can also be localized, according to your target market.
Along with the product description, you may also upload a product logo – the minimum size for this image is 300 x 200 px.
Following this step you will have the option to add your Google AdWords and Analytics tracking code to further monitor your conversions. Adding your unique Google tracking ID (a code in the format UA-XXXXX-X, obtainable in your Google Analytics account) will allow an accurate tracking for your product.
Free trial URL: if you’re offering any free trial products with your current product, add the download link for the trial here.
IPN URL: if you are using any type of IPN (Instant Payment Notification) this is where you should enter the associated URL. This will facilitate the instant delivery of a detailed transactional report whenever a transaction occurs.
Promotion only: activate this option if you want to turn an existing product into a supplementary/bonus item which can be a part of cross-selling campaign or another type of promotional campaign. This also means that the current item cannot be purchased as a standalone product, it will only be made available to customers through the purchase of the main product.
Examples of successful applications for this feature include:
adding technical support for your software as a support product
add an extension or plug-in for your software as an auxiliary product
add a complementary product for your software as support product
This can represent a smart way to drive interest & sales for your main product and a strategy to increase customer loyalty and develop their overall life cycle.
